Trek to Everest Base Camp

Wednesday, April 30 – TREK TO LOBOUCHE (16,100 ft.)

Tour schedule: From Dingboche we hike through the high alpine region, across the glacial frozen river at Thukla and climb up hill to the Lunched, with magnificent views of Cholatse, Lobuche, Pumori and Nuptse. From Lobuche we are within striking distance of both, Everest’s Base Camp and the peak of Kala Pathar.

And the day unfolds:

getting ready to start the day's hike

leaving Dingboche we have wide trails and spectacular mountain view all day

a shepards hut - talk about a "room with a view"

Our Sherpa Staff - Jiku, Dorjee, Dorji Nima, Pasang, Chhongnuri and Mingmar
Amadablam in the background

We had yaks carrying our duffle bags

The group at the Everest memorial pass
(small chortens have been erected here with plagues dedicated to climbers who lost their lives while climbing)

last views of Amadablam as we cross over to Lobuche Valley

climbing up from the memorial

taking a break after climbing up from the Everest memorial - first views of Mt. Pumori - pretty much flat
and downhill to Lobuche from here
